Learning Design Conversation (LDC) – November 7, 2018
This is the start of an ongoing and exciting faculty conversation series about course design, inspired by L Dee Fink’s (2013) book, Creating Significant Learning Experiences. One of the key components of good teaching, besides knowledge of the subject matter, teacher-student interactions, and course management is Design of Instruction. Learning Design is a skill that relies on different conceptual tools – and as with any skill, it requires practice, repetition, engagement, purposefulness and feedback.
Integrated Design Models. What are basic features of the integrated course design model and how does it compare with the popular Backward Design (or other instructional design models)? How can we draw on Pratt faculty’s knowledge of design principles from their disciplines to expand our understanding of learning design?
