Pratt Institute received one of the City’s Department of Environmental Protection Green Infrastructure grants in 2012 by designing a suite of green infrastructure projects to mitigate combined sewer outfalls to the East River and the City’s open waters. The design process was an extensive effort by Pratt’s Graduate Green Infrastructure fellows as well as the summer 2012 Green Infrastructure Design Build Studio, which worked to develop conceptual green roof plans and systems. The final design, consisting of native flowering plants and grasses, through its innovative mini-swale, will visually represent the flow of water over the roof.
