Pratt Fine Arts offers a Studio Residency Program that awards accomplished professional artists private studio space located on Pratt Institute’s Brooklyn campus. Visual artists with a demonstrated commitment to their artistic practice who will benefit from a month-long studio residency are encouraged to apply.
Our Studio Residency Program is intended to support working artists with the time and space necessary for artistic growth without the pressure of expectations to exhibit/open studios to the public.
The deadline to apply is 5pm, February 25, 2019.
There are two studio residencies available. One is for a New York area artist (no accommodation provided) and one for a US Citizen/Permanent Resident(apartment provided). These residencies are for the month of July and the two selected artists will be in residence alongside a Pratt Fine Art faculty member. The three residency studios are located in East Hall, artists-in-residence will also have shared use of East Hall Gallery.
Applicants must be living/working in the USA.
Applicants cannot be enrolled in any academic program at the time of application.
Applicants should be flexible, self-sufficient and collegiate.
Applicants must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
Suitability for Studio Residency: The studio residencies are ideal for artists working in painting/drawing/installation. Processes must be non-toxic and as it is a shared community, the use of noisy tools is not appropriate.
Please note: The residency does not include the use of any Pratt facilities other than the studio and gallery space provided. Pratt staff have limited availability over the summer, artists will be expected to be self-sufficient.
Studio Details: Studios are private, with ample space (1,600 and 900sf), natural light and a shared sink in the common hallway. They located in East Hall on Pratt Institute’s Brooklyn Campus. Wifi is available.
The artist-in-residence apartment is located in Pratt Institute’s Willoughby Hall. The accommodation is within easy walking distance of the East Hall studios. Wifi is available.
