Panel Discussions

No one who paints, no painter, starts out with a blank slate. We are all embedded in a visual culture, a culture of images, but each of us is different. Aside from the innate pleasure derived from the physical activity of using materials to draw and paint, people who paint seriously have all, at some point, responded in some personal way to images and paintings they have seen before.  Those responses to images, visceral or otherwise, can provoke, excite, influence, or inspire a lifetime of work. That is the theme of this panel presentation: to examine such responses and their consequences in the work of our panelists.
