Artist Spotlight Interviews
The Artist Spotlight Series is a project focused on interviewing artists, Pratt’s MFA class of 2020, who are impacted by COVID-19. The goal is to provide a space for these artists to talk about their work before and during the pandemic. These videos are unedited, capturing roughly 20 minutes of conversation on art and creativity.
Many of us, like the rest of the world, scrambled to find a safe place to quarantine, looking for ways to survive, and at the same time, to continue with our work. The interviews started off awkward, with us not knowing what to do with our hands, or hair, or face. But soon, we discovered the magic of screen share. We adjusted to the Zoom universe, working within our allotted 40-minutes and figured out the best way to talk to each other. We’re humbled to have been able to listen to creativity during tragedy. As you go through these videos, you’ll find that slowly but surely, we adapted because that is what artists do. We’ve negotiated a new reality, not an easy one, but one that is not art-less.
We’re happy to have been studio mates with all these artists.
