From the analysis of the safe rooms and shelters we started looking at thresholds as a transition between different durabilities. As threshold refers to a momentary condition such as an entrance, the transition between different temporalities refers to a thickened threshold. Therefore the threshold that we refer to is more than a space, it’s a ritual, a space embedded with time and action.
As the difference between two spaces such as temperature, usage or seriousness increases, exiting and entering one from another becomes more of a ritual.
This set of drawings presents transitions from a range of various atmospheric conditions and seriousness of entering a space. From the most mundane to the most extreme.
